MEEROO
A Community-Driven Anime Streaming Experience
Meeroo (a phonetic spelling of Miru, meaning "to watch" in Japanese) is a fictional desktop media application designed for a client passionate about streaming anime shows and movies. The vision was to create an engaging platform where users could not only watch their favorite content but also discover new ones through shared recommendations. By enabling users to suggest and receive show recommendations within the app, Meeroo fosters a sense of community and enhances the experience of discovering new anime both individually and collectively.
Challenge
One of the key challenges in this project was fulfilling the client’s request for a feature that allowed users to share show recommendations with friends. Designing an intuitive way for users to connect and exchange recommendations required careful consideration to ensure the feature was both functional and seamlessly integrated into the overall experience.
Approach & Outcome
To address these challenges, I conducted user testing during the wireframing phase to refine the app’s interactions. Through testing, I discovered that allowing users to find friends via the search function significantly improved the platform’s intuitiveness. Additionally, I introduced a dedicated screen for 'Recommended' shows, where users could easily access suggestions from both friends and the platform itself. To further enhance usability, I implemented clear CTAs for sending recommendations and designed guided screens to walk users through the process. These refinements, driven by user feedback, resulted in a more seamless and engaging experience.
